Awards are available for Sale and favors

Prestigious Nandi awards were announced recently, which triggered a controversy. In the latest set of Nandi award winners for the year 2009, Dasari Narayana Rao was announced as a winner for the best actor award. Many media sources reveal that , the former union minister Shri Dasari Narayana Rao, pollinated some Lobbying mantra in the state ministry, in order to fetch an award for his film ‘Mestri” which was a clear satire on megastar Chiranjeevi and his Praja Rajyam party. The CM K Rosiah did not agree for it, for some reasons and instead granted Dasari best actor award, for which Dasari was somewhat satisfied.

Nowadays, the situation in tollywood has turned some what like bollywood. In bollywood, only those heroes attend award functions, who are either winners or are being felicitated. Since there are some batches formed in bollywood, certain award functions oblige only certain heroes and their batch mates for personnel rewards. The best example is IIFA which favors bachchan n family and its friends. Star award favor SRK and Sony backed awards favor Salman Khan.

In the same way, Tollywood is also witnessing the same scenario. MAA TV organized or backed awards always favor Chiranjeevi and his clan to a superlative stage. Nandi awards are nowadays favorable for Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu these days. As the former and the latter’s father are in support of Congress government. The latest SOUTH Scope is again a Chiranjeevi clan based award.

So, in this way, award functions are being organized for some favors or for some monetary gain nowadays. The best example is that comedian brahmanadham was awarded with an award, in a recently concluded award function, for which he shelled out Rs 6.5 lacs in order to gain an award in public.

As a result of this, many audiences are nowadays not interested in award functions and are happy watching their regular TV serials.
